September is shaping up to be a fun time at SPARKLE Studio! We’ll be updating our website shortly with new classes, new yarn and products for sale, and quite a few special free events.

SPIN 2017 t-shirtThe first annual SPIN 2017! Join us on Saturday,  September 16, from 11 AM to 4 PM, in the Flying Monkey Theater on the 2nd Floor. While this event is focused on fiber, spinning and weaving, everyone is welcome to bring other project also (knitting, crocheting, felting, embroidery, etc) and join us for a fun afternoon.  Click here to read all the details and register for your FREE TICKET.

Green Pea Press, fellow resident at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, is screen printing official swag for us! Click here to check out our event t-shirts and tote bags, with art designed by Roo.

We’ve had a lot of interest in rigid heddle weaving classes. We’re excited to tell you that we’ll be adding these to our calendar just as soon as our initial order of Cricket looms arrives from Schacht.  Along with the arrival of the Cricket looms we’re also very excited to be launching our CRICKET CLUB for weaving enthusiasts. You can go ahead and order a loom now if you like.

Here’s what else is coming up in September:

  • Every Friday is SIT & STITCH at the Studio. Grab a project or two and come hang out in the studio with us, whether all day or part of the day. You’re welcome anytime between noon and 8 pm. SIT & STITCH is always free!
  • The first Wednesday of each month is SPIN NIGHT, an after hours event for hand spinners.  This month SPIN NIGHT is on 6 September and runs from 7:00pm to 10:30pm.  This too is a free event and beginning spinners, or those interested in learning how to spin, are welcome to attend.  An hour before the gathering Roo is offering a ‘Carding an embellished alpaca batt’ workshop in which you can prep your own batt to spin.
  • Our SPARKLE BRIGHTER JOURNALING GROUP debuts on 6 September.  These short morning sessions will focus on all the positive things in our lives amidst the chaos that surrounds us in the world.  SPARKLE BRIGHTER is exclusively for our fellow Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment residents.
  • What we love best about CONTINUOUS TRILOOM WEAVING is that no warping is required, you just need a skein of yarn.  Amy will be guiding a workshop during which you make a beautiful project on the 9th.
  • Our monthly ENGLISH AFTERNOON TEA will be served on 20 September, this month in addition to the home baked yummies, we will have cake to celebrate Roo’s birthday.
  • Amy’s STEAMPUNK TOP HAT crochet along is finally kicking off on 21 September, it is soooooo awesome!  And better yet, she is hosting both a daytime AND a nighttime session to make it more convenient for folks to attend.
  • A mermaid themed CUT STRAND TRILOOM WEAVING project will be led by Roo on 23 September.  Yes, expect bling in this one.
  • Our first full length RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING class also commences this month, on Sunday the 24th.  The class will repeat during the day on Wednesday the 27th for those who can’t attend the first session.
